First Gay marriage to take place in Argentina on August 13

Gay marriage has become legal in Argentina. According to the officials of Argentina, the First gay marriage is going to take place on August 13th. A 61-year-old man and his 60-year-old partner will tie the knot. Argentina is the first country in Latin America to legalize same-sex marriage. The decision is based on a landmark Senate vote which created controversy in the majority Roman Catholic nation.

After 15 long hours of debate,the Gay Marriage law was finally initiated by the center-left government of President Cristina Kirchner. The voting ratio was 33:27, with three abstentions.

Maria Rachid, head of Argentine Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transsexual Federation, is expecting around 100 same sex couples to tie a knot on the same day. Moreover,the first gay couple to wed in Argentina is offered by Mexico City authorities for a free honeymoon trip to the Mexican capital and a grand resort beach.
